Geo-Drill Celebrates Earth Day 2023

Fri, 21 April, 2023

This ‘Earth Day,’ Saturday 22 April 2023, is focussing the theme of ‘Invest In Our Planet’ for a second year running.

This is the first time that an Earth Day theme has been continued across two years with the aim of engaging with businesses, institutions, governments, and individuals around the globe to do their part.

It is about everyone being accounted for and everyone doing their part – including those working on projects like Geo-Drill!

The Geo-Drill team have been working to bring geothermal energy forward and exploit the huge potential of this natural resource. Geothermal has the capability to provide more than enough energy to meet the needs of the entire planet. As a reliable ‘always on’ energy resource it is both sustainable and environmentally-friendly, leading to an increase in the applications for geothermal energy in recent years.

Much cleaner than traditional fossil fuels, geothermal energy still has its challenges related to accessibility and cost. The highly corrosive, high-temperature environments associated with geothermal are particularly challenging for drilling operations, but advances delivered by the Geo-Drill team are tackling this challenge to promote geothermal power and create a cleaner future for the planet.

We hope you can join us in doing something, however small, to ‘invest in our planet’ this Earth Day.

The Geo-Drill project has received funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 815319
