Join our partners from UoI and Graphenea as they present some interesting results related to the "Graphene oxide based anti-wear materials for drilling tools" at the upcoming 31st International Conference on Diamond and Carbon Materials from 6-9 September 2021. The online event will feature a talk from Gifty Oppong Boakye from UoI in the session Graphene.
Ongoing research as part of project Geo-Drill proposes new materials and joining methods to suitable for drilling technology. The hot isostatic pressing (HIP) of powder mixtures gives more flexibility to design basic properties such as hardness and wear resistance in comparison to casting. An appropriate metal matrix composite composition will improve both. Gifty's talk, as part of the paper, will present results from the work on graphene oxide (GO) based materials for drilling components, such as drill bit, tool joint, etc including some intreating results from the tribological pin-on-disk wear testing.
