Geo-Drill to be presented at EGEC Geothermal Event

Wed, 19 April, 2023

Fraunhofer IEG are due to present findings from the Geo-Drill project at an upcoming event from EGEC Geothermal.

The ETIP Geothermal webinar, ‘Updates on Drilling for Geothermal,’ is taking place on 21 April 2021.

The Geo-Drill consortium are to be represented by Fraiunhofer’s Volker Wittig, who will present on the topic of ‘the Geo-Drill system.’

The Geo-Drill system is a holistic drilling technology for deep, hard rock, geothermal-type drilling operations. The technology is designed to drastically reduce the cost of deep drilling applications.

The consortium have been working to develop down-the-hole hammer technologies with advanced coatings and materials as well as advanced drill monitoring through robust, low-cost 3D printed sensors that will improved component life.
